Home to the Connemara region, the largest Gaeltacht region in the country, Galway is deeply rooted in the Sean Nós tradition. It is well known for its accordion and melodeon playing and its high paced jigs and reels and other styles of dance music to accompany the Sean Nós style.   It has also produced some of Ireland’s most beloved Sean Nós singers.

The East Galway area has also a fine musical stronghold, with Accordion, Flute and Fiddle being popular instruments here. This area is known for a slower-paced style of music.
